Biography Roseanna Murray
Roseanna is the crochet designer and artist creating Biquini de croche.
Each bikini is handmade by Roseanna.
Beautifully inspired by the everyday beach life of the women of Santos, Brazil, Roseanna’s designs reflect the natural style and the sensuous curves of the female body.
“I see each bikini as a piece of unique art that comes to life when a woman wears it. Women wearing my bikinis turn heads. The delicacy and the femininity of each design draws attention to the natural beauty of the woman – I use delicate crochet and individual detail, with finishing touches of natural materials, that accentuate the true female Brazilian spirit”.
British born , Roseanna grew up in the multicultured city of Manchester. Manchester is a strongly diverse community and a hub for many people from around the world. The celebration of so many different cultures has instilled in Roseanna a lifelong love of all things ethnic and bohemian.
Encouraged by the women in her family, Roseanna grew up creating beautiful things with her hands. “I have self-learnt many wonderful crafts including Sewing, Jewellery Making and Embroidery. In 2011 I opened my first business in Europe, selling handmade patchwork quilts made from Indian silk saris. In 2014 I won the Berlin Textile Art Sampler Competition and my embroidery work was exhibited at the ‘Berlin Textile Art Fair’ and later in Poland in Summer of 2015”.
Moving to Brazil in 2014 has inspired Roseanna to start a new artistic and creative adventure, drawing from the natural beauty of the beach life around her. Using her extensive craft skills, Roseanna swapped her sewing needle for a crochet hook and “Biquíni de Crochê” was born.
In 2016 the brand developed and her online shop came to life with an exclusive collection of crochet bikinis. Within 12 months a number of International models wore her bikinis including Christina Mikkelsen ( Miss Denmark 2017), Katie Bozner (Miss Los Angeles 2017), as well as the Brazilian model Milena Balza (Miss Rio Grande do Norte). In 2017 she expanded her business to include a colourful, unique range of crochet bralettes and crop tops, influenced from her previous Indian textile background. During this year Roseanna ventured into the world of designing crochet patterns, and released a set of crochet beachwear patterns which are sexy, feminine with a hint of bohemian style.
Roseanna also set up one of her long time ambitions and started a blog and a Youtube channel, in which she shares her crochet expertise with free crochet patterns, write updates on her bikini business & her life in Santos. For the future, as the business grows, she hopes to be able to fulfil one of her life long goals: to work in partnership with local women, develop new products and reduce poverty through empowerment. This aim will keep her motivated for the next few years!
